Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs, no cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse Legumain is observed.
- Recognizes the pro form of human Legumain and does not recognize the mature form (aa 18–323).
- Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Target Information
This gene encodes a cysteine protease with strict specificity for hydrolysis of asparaginyl bonds. It may be involved in processing bacterial peptides and endogenous proteins for MHC class II presentation in lysosomal/endosomal systems. Enzyme activation is triggered by acidic pH and appears to be autocatalytic. Expression occurs after monocytes differentiate into dendritic cells, and a mature enzyme is produced following lipopolysaccharide expression in mature dendritic cells. Overexpression may be associated with various solid tumor types. This gene has a pseudogene on chromosome 13. Several alternatively spliced variants have been described, with biological validity confirmed for two.
