Product Specific Information

The eBio1560 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse Endothelial Protein C Receptor (EPCR, CD201), a 25 kDa type I transmembrane protein expressed on endothelial cells. EPCR shares sequence and structural homology with the MHC class I/CD1 family and acts as a ligand for Protein C, enhancing its activation by the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex. It plays a crucial role in regulating blood coagulation and inflammation. EPCR deletion results in embryonic lethality, partly due to placental thrombosis.

Recent studies show that EPCR expression identifies bone marrow cells capable of hematopoietic reconstitution comparable to conventional hematopoietic stem cells. The eBio1560 antibody is suitable for detecting these hematopoietic stem cells, while the eBiomRCR-16 antibody should be used for endothelial CD201 detection.

Target Information

The gene encodes a receptor for activated protein C, a serine protease involved in the blood coagulation pathway. This N-glycosylated type I membrane protein enhances protein C activation. Mutations are associated with venous thromboembolism, myocardial infarction, and late fetal loss during pregnancy.
