Target Information
GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase) is a catalytic enzyme involved in glycolysis. It forms a tetramer of identical 37-kDa subunits and catalyzes the reversible reduction of 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate in the presence of NADPH. Beyond glycolysis, GAPDH participates in DNA replication, repair, RNA export, membrane fusion, and microtubule bundling. It is implicated in apoptosis, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer-related neuronal processes. GAPDH interacts with proteins such as amyloid precursor protein and Huntingtin, and is widely used as a protein loading control in Western blot analysis.
