Target Information
Tenascin is a high molecular weight, multifunctional extracellular matrix glycoprotein expressed during mesenchymal-epithelial interactions in development and in tumor stroma. It is known by various names including cytotactin, hexabrachion protein, J1, myotendinous antigen (MI), and glioma mesenchymal extracellular matrix (GMEM). Tenascin forms a disulfide-linked hexamer and is associated with tissue development and growth, both normal and pathological, while its expression in normal adult tissue is limited.
