Product Specific Information
- In sandwich ELISAs, less than 0.5% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse IL-2, IL-4, IL-15, and recombinant human IL-21 is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level is <0.30 EU per 1 µg of the antibody (LAL method).
Target Information
IL-21 is a 17 kDa immunomodulatory cytokine mainly produced by Natural Killer T (NKT) cells, T helper (Th17), and T follicular helper (TFH) cells.
In TFH cells, IL-21 signals through IL-21R and STAT3, activating transcription via Bcl6.
IL-21 is critical for TFH cell development, B cell differentiation into plasma and memory cells, IgG production, and apoptosis in naive B cells.
In Th17 cells, IL-21 promotes IL-23R expression through STAT3, IRF4, and RORγt, supporting maturation under inflammatory conditions.
IL-21 also downregulates Foxp3 expression. IL-21 deficient mice show protection against chemically induced colitis, while elevated IL-21 levels are observed in colitis models.
