Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins, showing considerable biochemical diversity with at least 20 distinct polypeptides in human epithelial tissues. They range in molecular weight from approximately 40 kDa to 68 kDa and have isoelectric points between 4.9 and 7.8.
Each epithelial tissue expresses specific cytokeratin patterns characteristic of its type and differentiation stage. These expression profiles are valuable in distinguishing various epithelial malignancies.
Cytokeratin antibodies are widely used in tumor differential diagnosis via immunohistochemistry, as well as in cytopathology and flow cytometric analyses.
