Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by significant biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa, with isoelectric points between pH 4.9 and 7.8. Each cytokeratin subtype (numbered 1–20) is expressed in specific epithelial types and reflects the degree of differentiation or maturation.
Cytokeratin expression patterns are widely used for distinguishing epithelial malignancies. Cytokeratin antibodies aid in tumor differential diagnosis through immunohistochemistry, as well as in cytopathology and flow cytometric assays.
