Target Information

This gene encodes a protein that is a component of the NuRD (nucleosome remodeling deacetylase) complex found in the nucleus of human cells. It exhibits a broad expression pattern and is strongly expressed in many tissues.
It may be part of a small gene family involved in transcriptional regulation, either directly or indirectly through chromatin remodeling.
This protein is closely related to another family member associated with the metastatic potential of certain carcinomas, sharing domains such as DNA binding, dimerization, and methylation-related domains.
One known target protein is p53, where deacetylation correlates with loss of growth inhibition in transformed cells, linking this gene family to metastasis.
