Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA, it belongs to the Rel family of proteins. NF-kB p65 forms a heterodimer with other NF-kB subunits such as p50 or p52. Upon TNF alpha receptor activation, IKK phosphorylates IκB, leading to its proteasomal degradation and subsequent activation of NF-kB. It plays a critical role in the transcription of the immunoglobulin kappa (κ) gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
