Product Specific Information

The eBioGoH3 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse and human CD49f, also known as integrin alpha 6, VLA-6 alpha chain, and platelet gpIc. CD49f is a 120 kD transmembrane protein that associates with CD29 (integrin beta 1) to form the VLA-6 complex, and with CD104 (integrin beta 4) to form the alpha 6 beta 4 complex.
CD49f is expressed primarily on T cells, monocytes, platelets, epithelial and endothelial cells, and germinal center B cells. The antibody is cross-reactive with integrin alpha 6 on human, mouse, and bovine cells, and can block the binding of integrin alpha 6 to laminin.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells at ≤0.25 µg/test.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody staining a cell sample in 100 µL final volume. Recommended titration for optimal performance.
Excitation: 488 nm; Emission: 520 nm; Laser: Blue Laser.

Target Information

CD49f (Integrin alpha-6, ITGA6) encodes the integrin alpha chain alpha 6 protein. Integrins are cell-surface proteins composed of alpha and beta chains that form various integrin complexes (e.g., alpha6/beta4 = TSP180, alpha6/beta1 = VLA-6).
They participate in cell adhesion and signaling, mediating interactions between the extracellular matrix (ECM) and intracellular cytoskeletal linker proteins. These signals regulate cell shape, mobility, proliferation, and survival.
CD49f is predominantly expressed by epithelial cells and plays a structural role in hemidesmosomes. Over 18 alpha and 8 beta subunits with multiple splice variants have been identified in mammals. Certain integrins also bind soluble ligands or counter-receptors such as ICAMs, promoting cell aggregation.
