Description:
The eBioY418 (Y418) monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD49b, the 150-kDa integrin alpha 2 subunit. CD49b forms a non-covalent complex with integrin beta 1 (CD29), known as VLA-2, which serves as a receptor for collagen and laminin. This complex is expressed by lymphocytes, activated T cells, monocytes, and platelets.

Applications Reported:
Suitable for flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and validated for flow cytometry using normal human peripheral blood cells. Use at 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

CD49b (Integrin alpha 2, Integrin alpha 2 chain, VLA-2 alpha chain, HM alpha 2) is a member of the integrin family and a 150 kDa glycoprotein. It forms a heterodimeric complex with CD29 (Integrin beta 1) to create VLA-2 (Integrin α2β1, or GPIa/IIa). This complex binds extracellular matrix proteins such as laminin, collagen, and fibronectin, activating intracellular signaling pathways.
CD49b plays roles in VEGF-induced angiogenesis, cell adhesion, and lymphocyte activation. It is expressed by NK cells, NK-T cells, monocytes, platelets, epithelial cells, and subsets of CD4+ T and B cells, including Tr1 regulatory T cells co-expressing LAG-3.
