Product Specific Information
The R1-2 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD49d, the 150 kDa integrin alpha4 subunit.
CD49d forms a complex with integrin beta1 (CD29), known as VLA-4, which acts as a receptor for fibronectin and VCAM-1 (CD106).
This complex is expressed by thymocytes, peripheral lymphocytes, monocytes, and eosinophils.
CD49d also associates with integrin β7 and binds to MAdCAM-1.

Target Information
Integrin alpha 4 (CD49d, ITGA4) belongs to the integrin alpha chain family of proteins.
Integrins are heterodimeric membrane proteins composed of alpha and beta chains.
Alpha4 associates with either beta1 or beta7, forming integrin α4β1 or α4β7 complexes.
Ligands include MAdCAM, VCAM, and fibronectin.
MAdCAM is the principal ligand for α4β7, and HIV-1 envelope can mimic MAdCAM by binding to and signaling through α4β7, the gut mucosal homing receptor for peripheral T cells.
