Target Information

Translin is a DNA-binding protein that specifically recognizes conserved target sequences at chromosomal translocation breakpoints. It forms a multimeric structure responsible for DNA-binding activity. Recombination-associated motifs and translin-binding sites are present at recombination hotspots and may indicate breakpoints in genes fused by translocations. These interactions may play a crucial role in chromosomal translocations in lymphoid neoplasms.
Recent studies suggest that, together with its binding partner Trax, Translin binds RNA and mediates neuronal trafficking.
