Target Information
BCL-2는 세포사멸(apoptosis)을 조절하는 핵심 단백질로, 세포 생존을 억제하거나 촉진하는 기능을 가집니다.
BCL-2 패밀리 단백질은 서로 이합체를 형성하여 세포사멸 조절을 강화합니다. 예를 들어, Bag1은 BCL-2와 이합체를 형성해 항세포사멸 효과를 증가시킵니다.
Bax와 Bak은 미토콘드리아에서 cytochrome c 방출을 유도하여 세포사멸을 시작하는 데 중요한 역할을 합니다. Bax는 세포사멸을 촉진하는 작용을 합니다.
BCL2의 지속적 발현은 Ig heavy chain locus로의 전좌로 인해 여포성 림프종의 원인으로 알려져 있습니다. 대부분의 여포성 림프종에서 비정상적인 germinal center는 높은 수준의 BCL-2 alpha 단백질을 발현하며, 정상 혹은 과형성 상태의 germinal center에서는 음성입니다.
BCL-2는 두 가지 전사체 변형을 가지며, C-말단이 다르게 스플라이싱되어 생성됩니다. BCL-2의 과발현은 B세포 림프종 및 전립선암과 같은 인간 암과 관련이 있습니다.
