Target Information
BCL-2는 세포사멸(apoptosis)을 조절하는 주요 단백질로, 세포 사멸을 억제하거나 촉진하는 기능을 합니다. BCL-2 패밀리 단백질들은 이합체(dimer)를 형성하여 세포사멸 조절 기능을 강화합니다. 예를 들어, Bag1은 BCL-2와 이합체를 이루어 항세포사멸 효과를 강화하며, Bax와 Bak은 미토콘드리아에서 cytochrome c 방출을 유도하여 세포사멸을 개시합니다.
BCL-2 유전자의 과발현은 B세포 림프종 및 전립선암 등 다양한 암과 연관되어 있으며, 특히 BCL2 유전자가 Ig heavy chain locus로 전위될 경우 여포성 림프종의 원인이 될 수 있습니다. 대부분의 여포성 림프종에서는 신생 배중심이 높은 수준의 BCL-2 알파 단백질을 발현하는 반면, 정상 또는 과형성 배중심은 음성으로 나타납니다.
BCL-2는 두 가지 전사 변이체를 가지며, 이는 C-말단이 다르게 절단되어 있습니다.
