Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal cells. The receptor’s ligand determines whether it forms homodimers or heterodimers with PDGF receptor alpha.
The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5 near GM-CSF and CSF receptor genes, all associated with 5-q syndrome.
A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 that fuses PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 leads to chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
