Target Information
Neurofilaments are intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons and are involved in maintaining neuronal caliber. They consist mainly of three subunits: NF-L (light), NF-M (medium), and NF-H (heavy).
- NF-L (Neurofilament-L): Low molecular weight subunit (~70 kDa)
- NF-M / NF-H: Heavier subunits (NF-H ranges 180–220 kDa, species-dependent)
The expression of these proteins is tissue-specific and developmentally regulated.
