Target Information
G protein-coupled receptors (GPRs), also known as seven transmembrane receptors, comprise a superfamily of proteins involved in numerous stimulus-response pathways. They translate extracellular signals into intracellular responses through G-protein activation and respond to signaling molecules such as hormones and neurotransmitters.
GPR41, also known as FFAR3 (Free fatty acid receptor 3), is a 346 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein of the G protein-coupled receptor family. It is highly expressed in adipose tissue and functions as a receptor for short-chain fatty acids by elevating intracellular calcium levels and inhibiting adenylyl cyclase.
