Preparation:
Produced from sera of goats immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human Resistin. Anti-Human Resistin-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect hResistin by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human Resistin (500-P183G) as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant hResistin.

Western Blot:
To detect Human Resistin by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human Resistin is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Resistin (also known as Adipocyte Secreted Factor, ADSF, or FIZZ3) is a cytokine secreted by adipocytes and is implicated in type 2 diabetes.
In obese, diabetic mice, serum resistin levels increase and antagonize insulin activity. Resistin gene expression requires C/EBP alpha, and coactivators CBP and p300 acetylate histones at the resistin promoter, activating transcription. PPAR gamma and RXR ligands downregulate resistin expression in adipocytes.
