Target Information
Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a pleiotropic, immune-modulatory cytokine produced by activated T cells and serves as a ligand for the IL-4 receptor.
IL-4 interacts with IL13 via the shared receptor, contributing to overlapping cytokine functions.
STAT6 plays a key role in mediating IL-4–dependent immune regulation.
The IL-4 gene is located within the cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q, near IL13 and IL5, coordinated by long-range regulatory elements.
A known splice variant, IL-4 delta 2, has been identified.
