Product Specific Information

Specificity: Recognizes the 25-kDa epsilon chain of the T-cell receptor-associated CD3 complex expressed on thymocytes, mature T lymphocytes, and NK-T cells in many mouse strains.

Target Information

The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulating TCR complex surface expression.
T cell activation through the TCR involves CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits, which are structurally related members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded on chromosome 11.
These subunits have cytoplasmic tails that associate with signal transduction molecules via a double tyrosine-based motif.
CD3 may play roles in TCR-induced growth arrest, cell survival, and proliferation.
The CD3 antigen is present on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes, 65–85% of thymocytes, and Purkinje cells in the cerebellum, but not on B or NK cells.
Decreased T lymphocyte percentages may occur in autoimmune diseases.
Defects in the CD3 gene are associated with CD3 immunodeficiency.
