- 1 µg/mL of MA5-45539 was sufficient for detection of GABA(B)R1 in 20 µg of rat brain membrane lysate by colorimetric immunoblot using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 115 kDa.
- No cross-reactivity against GABA(B)R2.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S93A-49.
Target Information
GABA(B) receptor 1 (GABBR1) is a receptor for GABA. Its activity is mediated by G-proteins that:
- Inhibit adenylyl cyclase activity
- Stimulate phospholipase A2
- Activate potassium channels
- Inactivate voltage-dependent calcium channels
- Modulate inositol phospholipid hydrolysis
GABBR1 plays a critical role in fine-tuning inhibitory synaptic transmission.
Presynaptic GABA-B receptors inhibit neurotransmitter release by down-regulating high-voltage activated calcium channels, while postsynaptic receptors decrease neuronal excitability by activating inwardly rectifying potassium (Kir) channels.
It is implicated in synaptic inhibition, hippocampal long-term potentiation, slow wave sleep, muscle relaxation, and antinociception.
