Product Specific Information
- 1 µg/mL of MA5-45536 detects GABA(B)R1 in 20 µg of rat brain membrane lysate by colorimetric immunoblot using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 115 kDa.
- No cross-reactivity against GABA(B)R2.
- Formerly sold as clone S93A-49.
Target Information
Receptor for GABA. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G-proteins that inhibit adenylyl cyclase activity, stimulate phospholipase A2, activate potassium channels, inactivate voltage-dependent calcium channels, and modulate inositol phospholipid hydrolysis. Plays a critical role in fine-tuning inhibitory synaptic transmission.
Pre-synaptic GABA-B-R inhibit neurotransmitter release by down-regulating high-voltage activated calcium channels, while postsynaptic GABA-B-R decrease neuronal excitability by activating inwardly rectifying potassium (Kir) channels.
Involved in synaptic inhibition, hippocampal long-term potentiation, slow wave sleep, muscle relaxation, and antinociception.
