Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of beta Catenin only when phosphorylated at Ser675.
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein essential for epithelial cell layer formation and maintenance by regulating cell growth and cell-cell adhesion. It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin, linking the cadherin complex to the actin cytoskeleton. Beta-catenin also associates with cytoskeletal complexes containing adenomatous polyposis coli protein and microtubules, participating in signaling pathways such as Wnt/Wingless, tyrosine kinases, and phosphatases.
Beta-catenin is expressed in various hair follicle cell types and plays a role in tumorigenesis, including pilomatrixoma, medulloblastoma, colorectal and ovarian cancers. In the nucleus, it co-activates Lef/Tcf transcription factors that regulate genes promoting cell proliferation (e.g., cyclin D, c-myc).
