EGF 및 TGF-α와 같은 리간드가 결합하면 EGFR 이합체화 및 세포질 도메인 내 티로신 잔기 자가 인산화가 유도됩니다. 과발현은 두경부, 뇌, 방광, 위, 유방, 폐, 자궁내막, 자궁경부, 외음부, 난소, 식도, 위 및 편평세포암종 등 다양한 종양에서 관찰됩니다.
