Product Specific Information

The MQ2-13A5 antibody reacts with human interleukin-6 (IL-6), a 21–28 kDa cytokine secreted by various cell types.

Applications Reported:

• Capture of human IL-6 by ELISA
• Intracellular staining for flow cytometric analysis
• Neutralization of IL-6 bioactivity

Applications Tested:
This antibody has been tested as the capture antibody in a sandwich ELISA for human IL-6 analysis, in combination with the biotinylated MQ2-39C3 (Cat. 13-7068) antibody for detection and recombinant human IL-6 (Cat. 14-8069) as the standard.
A suitable concentration range for ELISA capture is 2–8 µg/mL.
A standard curve should include doubling dilutions of the recombinant standard from 1000 pg/mL to 8 pg/mL.

Target Information

IL-6 (Interleukin-6) encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation.
It acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever in autoimmune or infectious conditions.
IL-6 is expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, secreted into serum, and activates inflammatory transcriptional responses via the IL-6 receptor alpha.
It is implicated in multiple inflammation-associated diseases, including diabetes mellitus, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi sarcoma, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Elevated IL-6 levels have been observed in viral infections, including COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2).
