Description:
The MP5-20F3 antibody reacts with mouse interleukin-6 (IL-6), also known as B Cell Stimulating Factor (BCSF) or BSF-2. IL-6 is a 21–28 kDa cytokine produced by monocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and other immune cells upon stimulation. It plays a key role in immune and inflammatory responses, neuronal development, and the acute phase reaction. The MP5-20F3 antibody functions as a neutralizing antibody.

Applications Tested:
Validated as the capture antibody in sandwich ELISA for mouse IL-6 detection. Recommended combination:

• Detection antibody: Biotin MP5-32C11 (Product #13-7062-81)
• Standard: Recombinant mouse IL-6 (Product #14-8061-80)
  Recommended capture concentration: 0.5–2 µg/mL
  Include a standard curve (8–1000 pg/mL range) for each ELISA plate.

Target Information

IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. It acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever during infection or autoimmune reactions. IL-6 is primarily expressed at inflammation sites and mediates transcriptional responses via the interleukin-6 receptor alpha.
Elevated IL-6 levels are associated with diseases such as diabetes mellitus, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi sarcoma, and COVID-19.
