Target Information

Anaplastic Lymphoma Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (ALK) belongs to the insulin receptor superfamily and is essential for brain development. Mutations, rearrangements, and amplifications in the ALK gene are associated with tumors such as anaplastic large cell lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and non-small cell lung cancer.
Chromosomal rearrangements often result in a fusion gene combining the ALK gene (chromosome 2) with the nucleophosmin gene (chromosome 5), producing the oncogenic NPM-ALK fusion protein.
ALK encodes a receptor protein-tyrosine kinase with transmembrane and extracellular domains, showing high sequence similarity to LTK. It plays a crucial role in neuronal development and signaling.
