Target Information
The 5T4 gene encodes a leucine-rich transmembrane glycoprotein potentially involved in cell adhesion. It is an oncofetal antigen specific to trophoblast cells and is highly expressed in many tumor cells in adults. Expression correlates with poor clinical outcomes in various cancers. Alternative splicing in the 5' UTR results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.
