Target Information
YAP (Yes-Associated Protein) is a transcriptional co-activator and oncogene, belonging to the WW domain protein family. It acts as both a coactivator and corepressor and is a critical downstream regulator in the Hippo signaling pathway, which controls organ size and tumor suppression by modulating cell proliferation and apoptosis.
YAP also plays key roles in tissue tension, 3D tissue shape, cell proliferation, cell death, and cell migration. Mutations in related genes can result in developmental abnormalities such as coloboma.
