Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human IL-16. Anti-Human IL-16-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human IL-16 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human IL-16 (500-P06) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human IL-16.

Western Blot:
To detect hIL-16 by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant hIL-16 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

The IL-16 protein is a pleiotropic cytokine functioning as a chemoattractant, a modulator of T cell activation, and an inhibitor of HIV replication. Its signaling is mediated by CD4. IL-16 undergoes proteolytic processing, yielding two functional proteins: the secreted C-terminal peptide (cytokine function) and the N-terminal product (cell cycle control). Caspase 3 is involved in this processing, and alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
