Target Information
Wnt proteins are secreted glycoproteins that activate signal transduction pathways involved in tissue homeostasis, cell fate, proliferation, and self-renewal.
Canonical Wnt signaling involves Frizzled and LRP5/LRP6 receptors, activating the beta-catenin cascade.
Non-canonical signaling involves Frizzled and ROR2 receptors.
Deregulation of these pathways can lead to cancer.
Human Wnt-1 is a 370 amino acid precursor cleaved into a 343 amino acid (42 kDa) mature form.
Mature human Wnt-1 shares ~99% identity with mouse Wnt-1.
Wnt-1 is involved in embryonic development, carcinogenesis, and can induce phosphorylation and degradation of c-Myb.
