Target Information
SFPQ, also known as PSF, encodes a nuclear factor involved in RNA splicing and regulation of gene expression. It likely forms a heteromer with NONO and participates in DNA pairing and repair processes. Recent studies indicate SFPQ is a downstream target of tau, with nuclear depletion and cytoplasmic accumulation observed in neurons and astrocytes of Alzheimer’s disease brains. Reduced SFPQ levels may correlate with tau pathology, suggesting a role in neurodegenerative diseases. SFPQ protein may appear as 47 kDa, 52 kDa, or 100 kDa forms in various cell types.
