Target Information
SFPQ, also known as PSF, encodes a nuclear factor involved in splicing and regulation of gene expression. It likely forms a heteromer with NONO and participates in DNA pairing and repair.
Recent studies have identified SFPQ as a downstream target of tau; nuclear depletion and cytoplasmic accumulation of SFPQ were observed in neurons and astrocytes of Alzheimer’s disease brains. Reduced SFPQ levels may progress with tau pathology, suggesting its critical role in neurodegenerative diseases.
SFPQ protein may appear as 47 kDa, 52 kDa, or 100 kDa molecules depending on cell type.
