Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of DAG1 only when phosphorylated at Tyr892.

Target Information

Dystroglycan is a laminin-binding component of the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex, providing linkage between the subsarcolemmal cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix. Dystroglycan 1 is a candidate gene for the mutation site in autosomal recessive muscular dystrophies. Reduced dystroglycan 1 expression in Duchenne muscular dystrophy leads to loss of linkage between sarcolemma and extracellular matrix, increasing susceptibility of muscle fibers to necrosis. It also functions as a dual receptor for agrin and laminin-2 in Schwann cell membranes. Muscle and nonmuscle isoforms differ by carbohydrate moieties but not protein sequence. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.
