Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of CD22 only when phosphorylated at Tyr842.
Target Information
CD22 (BL-CAM) is a type 1 integral membrane glycoprotein (130–140 kDa) expressed in both the cytoplasm and cell membrane of B-lymphocytes. It appears early in B-cell differentiation, similar to CD19, and is limited to mature B cells and plasma cells. CD22 expression is strong in hairy cell leukemia and useful for phenotyping mature leukemias. It binds preferentially to α2,6-linked sialic acid, which can be masked by cis interactions. Upon ligand-induced tyrosine phosphorylation, CD22 regulates B-cell receptor signaling through interaction with Src family kinases and inhibitory phosphatases. CD22 is positive in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and nodular lymphocyte predominance Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but negative in classical Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
