The monoclonal antibody ECE.2 recognizes mouse monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1).
Target Information
This gene encodes a cytokine located on the q-arm of chromosome 17, part of a family of secreted proteins involved in immune regulation and inflammation. The MCP-1 protein is structurally related to the CXC subfamily of cytokines, characterized by two cysteines separated by a single amino acid. It exhibits chemotactic activity for monocytes and basophils, but not for neutrophils or eosinophils. MCP-1 is implicated in diseases with monocytic infiltrates such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, and atherosclerosis. It binds to chemokine receptors CCR2 and CCR4.
