The monoclonal antibody Sa14-2 recognizes the mouse monocyte marker CD14.
Target Information
CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein expressed on mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide (LPS) receptor and exists in both membrane-bound and soluble forms. CD14 interacts with LPS-binding protein (LBP) to bind LPS and participates in immune responses including inflammation and infection. It can also bind apoptotic cells and is involved in allergic and inflammatory processes. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same CD14 isoform. CD14 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as Mycobacterium chelonae infection and croup.
