Product Specific Information
- A 1:100 dilution of MA5-45733 was sufficient for detection of GABA-A R, Alpha4 in 20 µg of mouse brain lysate by ECL immunoblot using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 60 kDa.
- Does not cross-react with other GABA-A receptor alpha subunits.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S398A-34.
Target Information
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian brain, acting at GABA-A receptors—ligand-gated chloride channels. Chloride conductance can be modulated by agents such as benzodiazepines that bind to the receptor.
At least 16 distinct subunits of GABA-A receptors have been identified. The GABRA4 gene encodes the alpha-4 subunit, implicated in the etiology of autism and associated with increased autism risk via interaction with the beta-1 subunit. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
