Product Specific Information
- A 1:100 dilution of MA5-45734 was sufficient for detection of GABA-A R, Alpha4 in 20 µg of mouse brain lysate by ECL immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 60 kDa.
- Does not cross-react with other GABA-A-Receptor Alpha subunits.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S398A-34.
Target Information
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian brain, acting at GABA-A receptors, which are ligand-gated chloride channels. Chloride conductance of these channels can be modulated by agents such as benzodiazepines that bind to the GABA-A receptor. At least 16 distinct subunits of GABA-A receptors have been identified.
This gene encodes subunit alpha-4, which is involved in the etiology of autism and may increase autism risk through interaction with another subunit, GABA-A receptor beta-1. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
