- A 1:100 dilution of MA5-45732 detects Ankyrin R (~200 kDa) in 20 µg mouse brain lysate by ECL immunoblot using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as secondary antibody.
- Does not cross-react with Ankyrin-B or Ankyrin-G.
- Formerly sold as clone S388A-10.
Target Information
Ankyrins are a family of proteins that link integral membrane proteins to the spectrin-actin cytoskeleton. They are involved in cell motility, activation, proliferation, contact, and maintenance of specialized membrane domains.
Ankyrin 1, the prototype of this family, was first discovered in erythrocytes and later found in brain and muscles. Mutations in erythrocytic Ankyrin 1 are associated with hereditary spherocytosis.
Multiple isoforms arise from complex alternative splicing and tissue-specific expression.
