The monoclonal antibody CNA.42 recognizes a unique carbohydrate epitope found on follicular dendritic cells (FDCs) from various species.
FDCs are large cells located in germinal centers (GCs) of primary and lymphoid tissues. They present non-processed antigen and prevent apoptosis of B cells through a selection process that results in memory B cell formation.
FDCs express several B cell markers such as CD21 (long isoform), CD23, and CD35.
Staining with CNA.42 is mainly restricted to the plasma membrane but may also be cytoplasmic in limited cases (e.g., mast cells).
This monoclonal antibody is a useful reagent for both flow cytometry and IHC analysis.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis, Western blot, and immunohistochemical staining of frozen and paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
Applications Tested: Immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human tonsil tissue using high pH antigen retrieval. Recommended concentration ≤ 30 µg/mL; titrate for optimal performance.
