Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This affinity-purified antibody is directed against human eIF3f protein. A BLAST analysis indicates cross-reactivity with eIF3f protein from human, mouse, rat, chimpanzee, chicken, and bovine based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Partial reactivity is expected against eIF3f from Drosophila melanogaster and Tetraodon nigroviridis (pufferfish) based on 90% homology. Reactivity against homologues from other species is not known.

Target Information

Component of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 (eIF-3) complex, required for several steps in the initiation of protein synthesis. The eIF-3 complex associates with the 40S ribosome and facilitates the recruitment of eIF-1, eIF-1A, eIF-2:GTP:methionyl-tRNAi, and eIF-5 to form the 43S preinitiation complex (43S PIC). It stimulates mRNA recruitment to the 43S PIC and scanning of the mRNA for AUG recognition. The eIF-3 complex is also required for disassembly and recycling of post-termination ribosomal complexes and prevents premature joining of the 40S and 60S ribosomal subunits prior to initiation.
