This affinity-purified antibody is directed against the phosphorylated form of human ECT2 protein at the pT790 residue. Reactivity occurs specifically at this site, with minimal cross-reactivity to the non-phosphorylated form by ELISA. Western blot analysis shows specific staining of interphase cell lysates predicted to contain non-phosphorylated ECT2. Ongoing studies aim to further clarify specificity.
BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with ECT2 proteins from human, mouse, rat, zebrafish, chimpanzee, chicken, and dog, showing 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Reactivity with other species is not determined.
Target Information
The ECT2 gene encodes a transforming protein related to Rho-specific exchange factors and yeast cell cycle regulators. Its expression increases with DNA synthesis onset and remains high during G2 and M phases. In situ hybridization studies show elevated expression in mitotic cells during liver regeneration, indicating a role in cytokinesis regulation.
