This affinity-purified antibody is directed against human MECT1 protein. BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with MECT1 from human, mouse, rat, zebrafish, pufferfish, and bovine based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Reactivity with homologues from other sources is not known.
Target Information
MECT1 acts as a transcriptional coactivator for CREB1, activating transcription through both consensus and variant cAMP response element (CRE) sites. It functions in the SIK/TORC signaling pathway, active when dephosphorylated, and enhances CREB1-TAF4 interaction. It regulates CREB-activated genes such as StAR, coactivates PGC1α, and induces mitochondrial biogenesis in muscle cells. In the hippocampus, it is involved in late-phase long-term potentiation (L-LTP) maintenance and dendritic growth of cortical neurons. Together with SIK1, it regulates light-induced circadian clock entrainment by coactivating CREB-mediated transcription of PER1.
