Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This affinity-purified antibody is directed against the regulatory light chain of smooth and non-muscle myosin. It detects both unphosphorylated and monophosphorylated forms. Cross-reactivity is expected with myosin light chain from human, mouse, and rat sources. Reactivity with other species has not been determined, but the immunogen sequence is nearly identical across mammalian and avian species. BLAST analysis indicates identical sequences for smooth and non-muscle myosin regulatory light chains.

Target Information

Myosin regulatory light polypeptide 9 (MYL9) is a conserved, ubiquitously expressed protein encoded by the MYL9 gene in humans. Myosin is a hexameric protein composed of two heavy chains and four light chains, including phosphorylatable and nonphosphorylatable subunits. MYL9 regulates muscle contraction by modulating the ATPase activity of myosin heads. MYL9 and MYL12 are functional ligands for CD69; blockade of the CD69–MYL9/12 interaction ameliorates allergic airway inflammation in mouse models.
