The monoclonal antibody ZM4.1 recognizes ILT3 (CD85k), a 60 kDa transmembrane protein with two Ig domains and ITIMs.
ILT3 is expressed on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells, with high expression on plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs).
ILT3 expression by DCs is required to induce regulatory T cells (Tregs). Addition of ZM4.1 can block the suppressive function of Tregs in vitro.

Target Information

This gene belongs to the leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor (LIR) family located in chromosome region 19q13.4.
The encoded protein is a subfamily B receptor with 2–4 extracellular Ig domains, a transmembrane domain, and cytoplasmic ITIM motifs.
It binds to MHC class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells, transmitting inhibitory signals to modulate immune responses.
The receptor contributes to antigen capture, presentation, and regulation of inflammatory and cytotoxic responses.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
