This P3TUNYA monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD218a (Interleukin 18 Receptor alpha).
CD218a is a subunit of the heterodimeric receptor complex for IL-18, a proinflammatory cytokine of the IL-1 family that regulates IFN-γ secretion.
IL-18 receptor is expressed on Th1, NK cells, and neutrophils, but not on naive CD4 or Th2 cells.
The receptor consists of an alpha (ligand-binding) and beta (signal-transducing) chain; affinity increases when both form a complex.
IL-18R signaling contributes to Th1 differentiation and effector function, enhancing IFN-γ, TNF-α, and Fas ligand expression.
It also synergizes with IL-23 in Th17 development.
IL-18R serves as a surrogate marker for CD161 in mouse Tc17 phenotyping.

IL18R1 is a cytokine receptor in the interleukin 1 receptor family.
It specifically binds IL-18 and mediates IL-18 signal transduction.
IFN-α and IL-12 induce its expression in NK and T cells.
The IL18R1 gene forms a cluster on chromosome 2q with IL1R2, IL1R1, ILRL2 (IL-1Rrp2), and IL1RL1 (T1/ST2).
