Target Information
AKT1 (PKB alpha) is a serine/threonine kinase regulating cell survival. It inhibits apoptosis and promotes cell cycle progression by phosphorylating multiple targets. Activated by insulin, PI3K, IGF1, and other growth factors, Akt inactivates apoptosis-related proteins such as forkhead transcription factors and caspase-9. The AKT pathway is a key target for cancer drug discovery.
