Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This phospho-specific monoclonal antibody recognizes phosphorylated AKT protein at S473 in human and mouse. BLAST analysis indicates cross-reactivity with AKT pS473 from human, mouse, rat, and chimpanzee based on 100% sequence homology. Cross-reactivity with AKT2 and AKT3 has not been determined.
Target Information
AKT1 (PKB alpha) is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates cell survival and growth. The activated enzyme inhibits apoptosis and promotes cell cycle progression by phosphorylating various targets, including forkhead transcription factors and caspase-9. AKT1 activation occurs via insulin, PI3K, IGF1, and other growth factors. The AKT pathway is a major focus in cancer drug discovery.
